THE INTERNATIONAL BLACK FILM FESTIVAL

GOAL

The goal of the Montreal and Quebec City International Haitian Film Festival is to:

Diversify the cultural scene in Quebec

Give all Quebeckers the opportunity to discover a dynamic, emerging cinema

Help them understand the complexity and richness of the Haitian reality

Promote author’s films and Haitian cinema

Discover and encourage new talent

Provide an opportunity for professionals working in the film industry both here and abroad to meet

Encourage excellence and promote Montreal and Quebec City

Provide opportunities for new discoveries and new encounters, for sharing and entertainment

- Build bridges between Quebec and Haiti

The 2008 edition of the Montreal and Quebec City International Haitian Film Festival included the following sections: Fiction, Documentaries, Retrospectives, Short Films and Tributes.

PARTICIPATING COUNTRIES

The films in the 4th edition of the MIHFF came mainly from: Haiti, Canada, United States, France, Italy, England, Cuba, Switzerland, Brazil...

The “Voodoo: from Haiti to Montreal” conference was held in the Fernand Daoust Room (1205) at Centre St-Pierre located at 1212 Panet St. in Montreal
