Festival International Film Haïtien Montréal

Welcome to the official website of the MIHFF

As the largest event dedicated to Haitian cinema in the world, the Montreal International Haitian Film Festival or MIHFF is proud to have the opportunity to showcase the potential of independent cinema from here and abroad. The 4th edition of the MIHFF will run from September 17 to 21, 2008 in Montreal and, for the first time, in Quebec City, from September 24 to 28, 2008.

The Montreal and Quebec City International Haitian Film Festival wants to promote a different kind of cinema, cinema that hails from another place and another time, cinema from here that does not have the opportunity to grace the big screen, groundbreaking cinema that moves us, that raises awareness and takes us all by surprise!

The Haitian Film Festival wants to continue to deal with issues and to present works that raise questions, that provoke, that make us smile, that leave us perplexed, that shock us...

The Haitian Film Festival wants to steer clear of convention so that it can continue to open up to the world and provide opportunities for new encounters and new discoveries, for sharing, interculturalism and entertainment!

In addition to film screenings, the MIHFF also holds international conferences and exhibitions on major social and cultural issues, by presenting themes that provoke debate, that raise awareness and make us think. This year’s themes: voodoo (in Montreal) and contemporary slavery (in Quebec City).
